Leaky taps and mixers
Drips, loose handles, worn cartridges, low pressure issues
If something’s gone wrong in your bathroom, it rarely stays a small problem for long. A leaky tap turns into a damp cabinet, a slow-draining shower becomes a standing-water situation, and a toilet that “mostly works” has a habit of failing at the worst time. At Amora Designs, we carry out bathroom and sanitary repairs across Essex, helping homeowners and landlords get things sorted properly without the fuss. From Victorian terraces with older pipework to modern new builds with tight service voids, we’re used to the little quirks that come with local properties — and we’ll always explain what’s going on in plain English before any work starts.
We’re regularly called out for:
Sometimes it’s one obvious fault. Other times the “problem” is really a few smaller issues adding up — for example, a failing seal plus a slightly loose waste fitting, or a partial blockage that’s been building for months.
When you’re dealing with water, you don’t just want a patch-up — you want confidence it won’t come back next week.
Essex has a real mix of housing. We work in older terraces where access can be awkward, semis with previous “DIY fixes” hidden behind panels, flats where isolation points aren’t always obvious, and newer developments where everything’s boxed in tighter than you’d expect. That local experience matters, because it helps us get to the cause faster and repair it properly.
We keep things straightforward so you know exactly what to expect.
We’ll inspect the problem, check nearby fittings, and look for signs of hidden leaks — like damp patching, moulding silicone, or swelling in a vanity unit.
Before we start, we’ll explain the repair options and what’s involved. If there’s more than one route (for example, repairing a component vs replacing it), we’ll lay out the pros and cons.
We’ll isolate water safely, complete the repair, and test everything properly — not just a quick “that’ll do”. With drains, we’ll make sure water is flowing as it should and check for any backing-up.
We’ll show you what we’ve done and share a couple of practical tips to help avoid repeat issues — like what not to put down a basin waste, or how to spot early signs of a failing seal.
We cover bathroom and sanitary repairs throughout Essex, including Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend-on-Sea, Basildon, Braintree, Brentwood, Harlow, Rayleigh, Rochford, Leigh-on-Sea, Canvey Island, Benfleet, Grays and surrounding areas. If you’re just outside these locations, it’s still worth getting in touch — we’re often working nearby and can advise.
How quickly can you attend a bathroom repair in Essex?
It depends on the issue and our current diary, but if it’s urgent (for example, a leaking toilet or a shower you can’t turn off), tell us when you call and we’ll prioritise where we can.
Is a dripping tap really worth fixing?
Yes — not only because of wasted water, but because constant dripping often means worn parts that can fail further, especially on older mixers. It’s usually a straightforward fix if dealt with early.
Do you repair blocked bathroom drains?
We do. Slow drains are common, especially in showers and basins. We’ll identify whether it’s a local trap blockage or something further along the waste pipe, then clear it properly.
Can you repair a cracked bath or sink?
In some cases, yes — but it depends on the material, the location of the crack, and whether movement underneath is the real cause. We’ll assess it and advise honestly if repair is viable or if replacement is the safer long-term option.
Will you reseal around baths and showers?
If failing sealant is causing leaks or water damage, resealing is often part of the solution — but we’ll also check whether the bath/shower is moving or if there’s a deeper issue, because resealing alone won’t fix that.
